Royal Skin took the stage in front of an impressively full room (especially considering the time and first-show status), and tore through a short-but-sweet set of songs with a take-no-prisoners approach. By the way, is-it-obvious-that-I-really-like-hyphens, or no?
Royal Skin's sound falls somewhere between hard rock and punk with a touch of metal aggression, and they had no problem motivating the crowd into what was nearly a small mosh pit (I spilled a lot of beer jumping up and down like a lunatic).
Ronnie Heaven is a charismatic force of nature, dominating the stage with a self-assured swagger you normally would not see in a first-time performance, but then this isn't your average performer. She's a confident vocalist with a voice that is both commanding and suave, and capable of expressing a wide range of emotion.
