The band began writing and recording new material last year, and "Four" is the end result.
The album is nine tracks of pure listening pleasure. Those familiar with The Common Men will immediately recognize their signature sound - defined in part by Kevin Common's one-of-a-kind vocals - but will also note that these new songs are more experimental, more noise-drenched, and even more creatively ambitious than previous recordings. There's a real sense of purpose in these songs; each one is well-crafted and performed with the fearless enthusiasm that I have come to associate with The Common Men.
The balance between the classic TCM sound and the experimental approach on display in these songs makes this album ideal for both long-time fans and new fans.
"Four" is the fourth album by The Common Men, and I highly recommend checking it out. There's really no excuse not to since you can listen to it free at their Bandcamp page - or, you can choose to pay the minimum purchase price (or more) which will go toward a full distribution package and Pandora submission.
